Privacy statement
At Alpaca Advantage we recognize concerns people
may have regarding the collection and use of
information provided by users of our web sites,
registrants for our events, recipients of our
newsletters, and all of our customers. We created
this policy with a fundamental respect for our
users’ right to privacy and to guide our
relationships with our users.
Information collection and use
We collect information from our website users,
subscribers, and customers. This is only used to
provide better services to our customers, and to
improve our knowledge of the market. It is not
for sale to, or use by, third parties.
Trade shows and other events
At most of the events we attend, we ask visitors
if they would like to register to receive
occasional updates on what we are doing on the
farm, and other events that may be of interest to
them. During registration, users are asked to
give their contact information (such as name,
telephone number, and email address, as well
as to answer some questions related to their
situation in as far as it relates to alpacas). We
collate demographic information about our
visitors to improve our service, for our own
internal marketing purposes.
Most of the information that we provide is free,
but if items are purchased, we may also collect
credit card information. This is used solely for
billing purposes. It is kept in a secure fashion,
and is not available to anyone other than
authorized personnel within Alpaca Advantage.
Newsletters
When users subscribe to our newsletters, we ask
for contact information (such as name, email
address and, occasionally, demographic
information). We use this information in the same
manner as we use contact information described
above. Recipients of our newsletters can
unsubscribe at any time by using the instructions
listed at the end of the newsletter.
Website visits
We gather the date, time, browser type,
navigation history, and IP address of all
visitors to our site. This information does not
contain anything that can identify users
personally. This information is used for our
internal security audit log, trend analysis, and
system administration, and to gather broad
demographic information about our visitor base.
Confidentiality
We do not share your personally identifiable
information with any other companies or
organizations, apart from any with whom we are
partnering at events, or who need your details
for delivery purposes. Anyone to whom this
information is provided must agree to use it only
for the purpose intended and to keep the
information secure and confidential.
We will also disclose information if required to
do so by law, for example, in response to a court
order or a subpoena or other legal obligation, in
response to a law enforcement agency's
request, or in special cases when we have reason
to believe that disclosing this information is
necessary to identify, contact or bring legal
action against someone who may be causing injury
to or interference with (either intentionally or
unintentionally) our rights or property.
Security
We always use reasonable precautions to protect
your personal information, and to store it
securely. Any sensitive information that is
transmitted to us online (such as credit card
number) is encrypted and is transmitted to us
using secure protocols. In addition, access to
all of our personal database information is
restricted. Only employees who need the
information to perform a specific job are able to
access the personal database.

Our web sites contain links to other sites. We
are not responsible for the privacy practices or
content of such other sites. We encourage our
users to be aware when they leave our site and to
read the privacy statements of each web site to
which we may link that may collect personally
identifiable information.
