About Us
Background
We have worked with animals for over 30 years, and started researching alpacas in 1998. After buying a farm
in Fauquier County, Virginia that same year, we started to plan for the day we could beginning raising alpacas.
First we had to prepare the infrastructure of the farm, and also learn about the needs of the animals we wanted
to live with. Once we felt we had done that, we defined our requirements for a prestige, pedigree herd of healthy
fiber animals, and started to plan for the type of herd we wanted to develop. Eventually the day arrived that we
could make arrangements for the delivery of our foundation herd, and we haven't looked back since!
Alpaca Advantage is a medium-sized family-run herd, dedicated to breeding healthy animals of good conformation,
and producing good quality, dense fleeces. The alpaca business is ultimately about fiber, and there is no long term
future for any herd that is not concentrating on improving its fiber characteristics to meet defined goals.
We would be delighted to talk with you about our own fiber objectives, and to explain the way in which we are
using established scientific and genetic principles to breed better animals and improve our herd's breeding
averages.

Farm visits
In 2005 we moved to Warren County, Virginia, situated in the Blue Ridge mountains, about 90 minutes from the
center of Washington, DC, straight along the I-66.
Make a visit to us part of your next family outing. We just ask that, as we are a working farm, you let us know
in advance that you will be stopping by.
How to get here
We are located about 10 miles south of Front Royal, just off the US-340.
Group visits
As well as the opportunity for individuals and families to visit our farm and see us and our animals at our home
base, we also welcome organized groups from schools, libraries, camps, nursing homes, and other organizations.
We regard these events as opportunities to educate others about "the alpaca advantage", as well as to provide
them with a fun day out looking at our animals and alpaca products.
If you would like to arrange a visit for your group ~ give us a call. We'll be happy to set something up and
tailor it to your needs. Back to
